I-24 SMART Corridor goes live, situated alongside I-24 MOTION
TDOT launches traffic control system across the I-24 corridor. The extents of the project overlap with I-24 MOTION, which will be a crucial component to evaluate and optimize the system and future work. This synergy offers a new, unique opportunity to study active traffic control strategies and how they can be used to benefit the motoring public. Awareness of slow speeds or lane closures through the system in downstream traffic has the opportunity to improve driving safety and efficiency. In a separate project, the same Vanderbilt research team behind I-24 MOTION delivers the AI-powered software for recommending active management responses on I-24 SMART Corridor.
